Powered by the incredible magical powers of the demons themselves and home to a surprisingly cosmopolitan populace, Magan is a center of art and culture. Though inequality runs rampant and corruption and cutthroat politicking is a fact of everyday life, the slogan of Magan as “The City of the Future” does not seem unreasonably farfetched.
The demons are outnumbered many times even in Magan due to their low population and it would not at all be out of place to spend the first three days within its walls meeting only its slaves, servants, and inhabitants of other races happy to pay the high taxes for the safety the city can provide. Few inhabitants would ever say they are unhappy living there, even the most ill-treated of slaves -- but how much of this is due to the demon’s addicting lust magic is debatable.

Iridius: grammar/spelling

Generally regarded as a bunch of pricks by the other races, the Demon Empire is nonetheless second only to dwarves in terms of power and influence. They share humanity's boundless ambition, lust for life, and steadfast determination to see themselves as THE major player on the world stage; however, each of these are magnified immensely by demon kind. Hailing from lands beyond the sea, demons are by many seen as the mirror or humanity, though the demons themselves would point out that it should be the other way around, considering who got there first.

They adore thralls and will go out of their way to collect as many as they can, measuring their personal standing in society by how many humans, dwarves, elves, wildmen, and even other demons have been bent to their will. This enthrallery, while frowned on by other races, is tolerated due to it always being ‘voluntary’, with the allure of the demonic life of hedonism and endless indulgence given as the reason why so many have willingly given up their freedom to serve demonic masters and mistresses. More often than not, lust magic is the real reason, though the end result is similar, as few beings can resist the sinful delights of a demon's ‘personal’ charms.

While not banned or hated by their neighbors per se, demons have a reputation for taking everything just a bit too far and angering less wild races. Demonic parties have a tendency to turn into drunken orgies, negotiations turn into brawls, and nights out on the town into drunken brawls, then orgies. This makes them very unpopular with the local residents, who end up having to clean up after the demons have run off from the scene, usually with whatever wasn’t nailed down.

The Demon Empire's power structure is similarly chaotic and hedonistic, with powerful positions being taken up, exploited, then abandoned by successions of minor nobles. This state of affairs is kept from falling into total anarchy by the Succubi and Incubi, powerful magically gifted demons whose physical appearance and physiological profile differ so greatly from their kin as to seem like an entirely different species. These are the wielders of true power in the empire and work to keep the many layered plans of the current Emperor or Empresses proceeding just as planned.

The current Emperor, Felatitius, is exceptionally clever, ruthless, and daring, orchestrating the fall of the human kingdom after a failed assassination and invasion were set against him. With the help of his elite cabal of Succubi sorceresses, The 13 Queens, the Emperor defeated the human army in a single stroke using a powerful petrification spell and secured the Empire’s uncontested position of dominance over the realm.

Demonic Reproduction
Unlike the other races, demons are incapable of reproducing biologically the same way as other races. In order to reproduce, demons have to gather the sexual essences from the other races at least as many as the population of the demons themselves, which as one can imagine is no easy feat. The more essences that goes into creating a demon generally equates to how much magic they will have once mature. Felatatius regularly demands his fellow demons provide an annual tribute of thralls to ensure his own children take and retain the highest positions of power. This leads to most demon offspring belonging to the most powerful of the demons, who can afford a lot of thralls and also explains why demons regularly engage in orgies with their thralls and followers--their hedonism is essentially an important part of their lives, a fact commonly misunderstood by dwarves and humans. Demons may regularly rotate their favorite servants and thralls around in bands on traveling harems, moving from one demonic palace to another.

Lust Magic
Demons lack the population to prevent an all out uprising against their subjects, so in order to capture and keep their thralls happy, demons use a powerful lust magic that acts as an addictive drug in the minds of those who fall under their spell, making them unable to satisfy their urges without the assistance, or at least approval, of a demon. Thralls are generally treated well and are sometimes “released” after seven years of service, though typically by this point, the thrall can’t imagine life without their master and choose to stay by their side in order to keep reaping the benefits of their masters.

When a human or other non-demonic race falls under the influence of lust magic, their fertility drops to almost nothing, which means the demons are constantly on the lookout for more thralls to capture. Virtually no thralls are born into captivity and the very few that do are often sent away to be raised by their own free kin or those of a similar race.

Thrall-Taking
Demons rarely outright capture a member of another race to become a thrall, preferring to arrest trespassers or troublemakers or those who fall behind on rent for their farms. This allows the other races to turn a (somewhat begrudging) blind eye to the thrall capturing, with the average peasant feeling safe enough within the boundaries of their own homes and professions.

The oldest and most practical race in the lands, dwarves date back their history back to stone halls carved into the sides of mountains centuries before the first elves, then demons, and finally humans established their own cities and holds in the region. This, combined with their industriousness and love for the new and inventive, has given the dwarves a not altogether unfounded belief that theirs is the most advanced and respectable of civilizations. However, they are hardly free from the need to cut loose and enjoy themselves when entertaining guests or celebrating an important holiday.

The dwarven High King is actually an elected position, though one made by a council of lords and picked from their own number. This position, unlike the human or elf equivalent, is temporary and assigned mostly for ceremonial reasons during times of peace, only being properly reassigned and respected during great crises. The current war between humanity and the Demon Empire is the most recent example.

While officially neutral, the dwarves hold great respect to humanity for their role in ending the dwarves' war with the elves and many lords have made it clear that their subjects will not be reprimanded for aiding human friends and travelers. This is in no small part due to humanity's role in helping to advance dwarven technology.

Arriving in the realm just over a thousand years ago through magical gates, the human race has struggled to carve out a place for itself amongst the other races, though they have had help from their close ties with their elven and dwarven neighbors. Their cities span the main continent, though they are mostly centered on the two coasts, with hamlets and villages scattered across the countryside. Despite this spread, the race as a whole swears fealty to a single line, that of their ancestors' expedition leader into the new world, Gius Libidine.

The former ruling king, Harold Libidine, known as “Harold the Mad” by the common folk, took power some ten years ago. In that time, he had managed to irritate and alienate his allies so badly that when a war that threatened the entire human population of the continent broke out, both dwarves and elves turned a blind eye to the plight of humanity, with only a few individuals from both races helping the beleaguered remains free humanity to escape.

Now a scattered and desperate people, the remaining humans have taken to the roads their ancestors once walked to find the ancient portal that can return them to their race’s original home. The only other alternative, to give into the demons and become like their former king, a plaything to their cruel and lusty machinations.

The former human capital was named Giusburg, but the city fell shortly after the failed invasion of the human empire.

Almost identical to humans save for pointed ears, hundred year life spans, and common tendency toward agoraphobia when confronted with large, tightly packed crowds, elves are the second oldest civilized race in the realm. Prior to the arrival of humanity, elven society mostly revolved around small farming communities, overseen by regional governors who form a loose confederation, coming together for mutual protection in times of strife. Elvish cities were rare and most of them were small and not overly populated. The few elves who did desire more social environments would move into demon cities, so long as they could deal with the moaning and odd theft.

This changed somewhat with the introduction of humanity, in as far as elves on the whole found their otherworldly cousins much better company then either demons or dwarves. The elven and human partnership would prove a great aid in helping the fledgling human race get a foothold in their new home and provided the elves with a trading partner who would neither molest them nor show up drunk to half their trade meets.

This friendly state of affairs would come in handy for the elves, as five hundred years after the arrival of humanity, the tense relationship between elves and dwarves broke into the bloodiest conflict in this history of either race, which was only halted when a combined army of men and demons forced an armistice and brought both sides to the negotiating table. The elves, who had been on the back foot, anticipated harsh reprisals, but with the smooth negotiation of the human king, a deal was struck that not only ended the conflict with minimal punitive action, but also strengthened dwarf-elf relations going into the future.

When humanity needed them most however, the elves' strong dislike for King Harold The Mad, along with their decentralized government, meant that no formal aid could be easily sent and no one was terribly interested in trying to find ways around that problem.

Named after the first and most beloved kings of the humans, Giusburg has served as the capital of the human kingdoms since around 4700 ASE. Though the humans of Aphrodisia have never equaled the dwarves or demons in terms of power and prestige, Giusburg was built with the aid of some of the finest dwarven craftsmen and elven mages to be a testament to the indomitable human spirit. While the queen of the time, Sarai the Generous, was praised for not only the grandeur of the new capital, but also for the lavish rewards and praise she gave to the artisans and laborers, both human and other, in later years, the magnificent city would become a sour tribute to the humans folly and arrogance.

Less than a thousand years after the passing of the much loved queen who had so handsomely praised dwarven craftsmen for their hard work and skillful designs, a drunken King Jeremiah the Rude would loudly accuse dwarven king Isaac Hammerhand that his people had been cheated by the dwarves. He claimed the dwarven workmen, many of them from the Hammerhand clan, had done a rushed, shoddy job that human workers had been forced to repair at great cost. This grave insult would be repeated when Queen Jessica the Foolish banned the practice of magic, claiming it to be nothing but a way for charlatans to cheat honest men and women of their coin. She accused the elves who had fashioned the great water works of the palace grounds of being little better than con artists and degenerate liars who had duped the naive young Queen Sarai and her gullible court.

Since the events of The Great Exile, the city has been little more than ruins, inhabited mostly by looters, archeologists, and migrants.
