One day the beast grew annoyed at all the fumes drifting up out of cracks and ventilation shafts in the mountain, and attacked a firewagon caravan leaving from the main gate. He snapped his mighty jaws over a wagon and crushed it all in one bite, causing all firewater to go down and burn his throat. The dragon <i>had</i> been content to just cause a bit of mischief, but qiocl;y began to believe the whole thing had been an attempt to poison him as all that liquor made him woozy and wobbly.

“Soon there was a very angry and <i>drunk</i> dragon! He ate half the clan, burnt the rest. The Fireblech took their brewing and distilling secrets to the grave with ‘em. I’m sure the story’s a bit exaggerated, and there’s a lot more to the story I don’t have time to tell. But whatever the myths or legends, the firewater--whiskey--is very real, and very precious. Precious enough that some human duke commissioned this fault, at least.”
