James ‘the razor’ Redsail is a legendary human pirate who sailed the coasts of northern and western Aphrodisia in the late 5200s. As the legend goes, he managed to narrowly win a battle against a mighty dwarven fleet, against all odds. In the process, he lost his left eye, and only one in ten of his crew survived the ordeal.

After the battle, James Redsail melted down the bell of the enemy flagship and had it turned into a hundred skull-shaped pendents that he then distributed amongst his one hundred survivors. These became valuable as historical and cultural artifacts, and some even believe they bring the wearer good luck and safety in battle.

Different versions of the myth float around, changing the number of survivors around from anywhere between fifty to five hundred.
