Magan

Seat of power of the demon empire and one of the largest metropolitan areas in Aphrodisia. Though its dark reputation as a den of depravity, slavery, and debauchery is well earned, it is far from the nightmare city that many of its detractors like to paint it as. Powered by the incredible magical powers of the demons themselves and home to a surprisingly cosmopolitan populace, Magan is a center of art and culture. Though inequality runs rampant and corruption and cutthroat politicking is a fact of everyday life, the slogan of Magan as “The City of the Future” does not seem unreasonably farfetched.

The demons are outnumbered many times even in Magan due to their low population and it would not at all be out of place to spend the first three days within its walls meeting only its slaves, servants, and inhabitants of other races happy to pay the high taxes for the safety the city can provide. Few inhabitants would ever say they are unhappy living there, even the most ill-treated of slaves -- but how much of this is due to the demon’s addicting lust magic is debatable.

A magnificent obsidian palace stands at the top of the highest hill in the city where Felatitius and his Thirteen Queens once reigned supreme, protected by the most powerful defenses in Aphrodisia, both physical and arcane. Many an unlucky thief or assassin has fallen prey to its many traps and fake corridors, most ending up in the emperor’s personal harem after befalling various humiliating permanent transformations, retaining only enough of their former selves (mentally and physically) for the emperor to parade them around as warnings for any would-be attackers.
