Wildpeople

The common name used to refer to a large number of wild near-humans living on the fringes of civilized lands and deep within the unconquered wilds. While vast differences exist between types of Wildmen, the commonality between them all is a near universal unwillingness to live in settlements larger than a few dozen families and at least some level animalistic traits differentiating them from humans and elves. While mistrust between the more civilized races and the Wildmen is common, open hostility is rare and some Wildmen take husbands or brides and settle in the smaller villages.

It is not uncommon to find Wildmen who have adopted children lost or abandoned in the woods. Why they do this is unknown, but the men and women who grow up in Wildmen society are referred to as Wildkin and serve as intermediaries between the species when conflicts arise.
