Empress Sephora is a demon and one of the Thirteen Queens currently engaging in the demon civil war. From her birth she has been one of the least traditional of the demons, preaching freedom instead of enthrallment and obtaining the lustful essences from the other races through barter and contract rather that seizing it by force. This has always made her unpopular amongst many of the demon nobility, though she did enjoy support from many lower-caste demons with little wealth and few to no thralls of their own, benefiting little from the demon empire's power as a whole.
Before The Great Exile, Sephora was a member of several underground academic demon societies who met in teahouses to discuss philosophy and ethics. The group agreed that enthrallment was a horrid practice and should be abolished, discreetly spreading anti-thrall propaganda around Magan to convince others of their cause. When The Great Exile itself began, some members took to direct action and assisted humans on their journeys to the gate at Niu Heym. Sephora herself disguised herself as an elf guide and lead a party of twenty humans to the gate, of which ten made the journey. Afterward, she stayed at the portal to help in its defense against raiders, and it was there she met Myalari Vespiana Quintolia and befriended her.
Due to her fame, Empress Sephora was installed the Coalition of the Free when it realized it could not occupy the city indefinitely and needed to install a local puppet. Sephora was chosen and ruled the demon empire from 5656 to 5662 at the end of the Time of Chaos, a mere six years, before being overthrown by her own Thirteen Queens and chased out of Magan as Felatitius had before her.
Empress Sephora is the head of The Redemptors faction and fights to regain control of the demon empire and reimpose her edicts forbidding the taking of thralls.
